Rock Climbing in Morocco

Introduction to Trad Climbing Course is for anyone curious about placing gear, building anchors, and taking their climbing beyond the bolts – all in the warmth of the Anti-Atlas mountains in Morrocco. Learn the skills, soak in the culture, and climb in one of the most unique trad destinations on Earth.

Whether you dream of long adventurous routes or just want to understand the fundamentals of trad in a safe and inspiring setting, this trip is for you.

Requirements: This course is designed for those who have already done outdoor sport climbing.

Price: DKK 9.900,- per person

DAY FOR DAY 

Day 1 nov: Travel in early to Marrakech
Pick up your rental car in the airport
and start drive towards Tafraout around 13:00. But best no later then 15:00

The drive is 5 hours without breaks. 
Grab dinner on the road or when you arrive in Tafraout.

Check in to our hotel in Tafraout.

Day 2 nov: 
Breakfast around 07:00
Official Opening after breakfast
– Presentation of participants and instructors as well as expectations for the course
– Distribution of equipment

Hike to the local sport climbing crag. We will do single and multi pitch sport routes to get use to the desert stone.

Day 3 nov: Learn to place trad gear and build anchors or get some mileage with natural protection on single pitch. 

Day 4 nov: Speed is safety and necessary on long routes. We will optimise our rope work on shorter multi pitches.

Day 5 nov: Ridge line climb, vertical multi pitch or push our grades on single pitch.

Day 6 nov: Long Ridge line multi pitch. Infinity Ridge 4a – 23 pitches 940m 

Day 7 nov: Burn last energy out at Painted Rock

Day 8 nov: Drive to Marrakech and travel home. Advice not to book a plane before 12:00 as it would take 5,5 hours to drive back to the airport.

Or you could stay some extra days and continue your adventure. 

This program is a template and it might change according to weather.

– Instruction 7 days (Instructors: ratio 4:1)
– Stay in hotel in Tafraout (7 nights)

Not included:
– Personal climbing gear
– Climbing shoes
– Mountain boots or approach shoes
– Travel to Marrakech
– Car rental to Tafraout and during the course (split in 4 persons)
– Lunch (we build local food and some bread)
– Dinner at restaurants (around 120DKK pr meal)
– Any insurances

Possible to rent:
– Personal climbing equipment 300DKK full set pr week
– Mountain climbing boots (we have different sizes available) 450 DKK per week
